Hi, there! I am so glad you’re here! My name is Charity Raines. Occasionally, you will find me trying out new recipes, or rearranging our living room, or decluttering in an attempt to make our home life easier. But most of the time, you will probably find me reading with my daughter, sewing up dresses, or teaching kids piano or violin.
I may have always been a writer. My parents say that when I first learnt to read, I would spell everything, and sometimes even writing out the name of something on the actual thing itself, like writing “D-O-O-R” on the front door. As if we didn’t know that that was a door. Then as I grew up, I found it hard to express myself verbally, so it became easier for me to write my thoughts down and give it to whoever it pertained to. It seemed to be better for me in a way because then I could think through the things I really wanted to say. Eventually, I learnt to communicate better in person, but the heart for writing was still there.
When I was a teenager, I started a small blog, mainly from things I was learning in the Bible, or through Godly people that I looked up to. For about two or three years, I posted on it, not really to get any traction on the internet world, but just to have a space to write and share if someone else wanted to read them. That blog has been gone for a long time now, but lately, I’ve gotten the itch to write once more. I have been scribbling my thoughts on so many different notebooks every now and then for the past few years, and now I believe it is time for me to start putting some organization to it again.
You may end up finding a host of different topics here on Keeping Hearts and Home, from sourdough and sewing, learning to meal plan, developing habits and routines, to loving on our families, and everything in between. My prayer is that you can be encouraged to be the best woman you can be for the job of keeping your home and the hearts within.
